How to use the Golden Hour Blend

The Golden One

Earthy | Peppery | Warming

Turmeric is one of our favorite aromatics to grow and use in cooking, but also has a ton of health benefits and antioxidants. Specifically when mixed with black pepper, turmeric truly earns the title of superfood. With its earthy, bold flavor and rich, orange-yellow hue, a little can go a long way. Green cardamom provides the luxurious bright intensity that only the queen of spice can provide, while coconut milk powder adds creaminess and fat that helps with browning and Maillard.

The Golden Hour Blend is inspired by golden milk and traditional Ayurvedic spices. The addition of coconut and lemongrass complement the sweeter notes of this blend. Since there is no garlic or onion in this recipe it can totally be used in desserts or drinks like rice pudding or golden milk lattes.

The Golden Hour Blend is formulated without salt, msg, chemicals and is completely vegan and gluten free.

How to use on protein:

  1. Salt protein if necessary, I like to use the infused salt.

  2. Wait 5-10 minutes for salt to absorb into the protein

  3. Sprinkle the blend on and pat into the protein to develop a layer on the outside.

  4. Add as much as you’d like!

  5. Let the blend sit on the protein for at least  10 minutes to let the flavors infuse or put in the fridge overnight.

  6. When you’re ready to sear or grill, pour a small amount of zero acre oil or avocado oil on each piece of protein.

  7. You can omit the oil if you’re cooking a fatty ribeye or pork belly.

  8. Grill to your protein to your preference, rest properly and serve.
